Bring a re-usable bag. A grocery tote I find is best.
It doesn’t have to be big. I like a big one though or two small ones. I also prefer one I can fit over my shoulder. Many cities and stores are adopting minimal charges for plastic shopping sacs. The reusable bags are often more durable than the thin plastic of a grocer’s bag. Thus saving you from having it rip halfway back to your hotel and have to carry your goods in your arms. It can have alternate uses as an extra carry on for all those fragile purchases from your trip, a cover to sit on in a grassy park for an impromptu picnic. I get a lot of mileage out of mine. My favourite re-usable totes are from DM in Germany and Marks and Spencer in England.
People run around like crazy trying to find sunscreen before they leave yet almost every store sells it in Maui. It seems some stores almost even have it on sale indefinitely, a spray can runs for about $9.99 on sale or $12.99 regular price. Coming from Canada it is harder to find in the winter(…)
Please do not pack alcohol in your carry on for consumption on board the airplane. Please do not buy alcohol in the airport to consume on board the airplane. While it may seem tempting to grab a few minis at the liquor store before your flight and put them in your liquid baggie please don’t.(…)
Something that I have wanted to do for over the past decade was to experience a true German Christmas market. I have seen other cultures’ takes on the German tradition but I knew it wouldn’t be the same as seeing a true German market during the holidays. Finally, I was able to secure a trip(…)
I opened up my bag to get ready after a long flight to Mainz, Germany and my heart sank. I had forgotten to move my wallet from my purse, which I don’t carry when I travel, to my flight bag. I have a few bags with various currencies that I keep in my suitcase, so I(…)
Every once in a while you realise you know the most amazing people with awesome talents. I don’t often promote other websites so that when I do you, the readers, know that I feel strongly for the ones I do chose to post. I won’t put just anything up but I have had the thought(…)
I am not a fan of losing an hour of sleep when I am usually jet lagged, no matter where I happen to be. Springing forward is my second most loathsome time of year. I happen to hate a very cold February like the one we experienced ever so slightly more. Even though my mornings will(…)
When on the Hawaiian oasis island of Maui don’t be afraid of taking the bus. The public transportation system is safe and efficient, especially if you are travelling between the resort area Kaanapali and Lahaina. The fare is $2 each way cash only to the driver with exact change. If you are planning to take(…)
